Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn (born in America) is an American actress. Her most well-known role was Skyler on AMC's Breaking Bad drama, and won Primetime Emmy Award Outstanding Supporting Female Actress in Drama Series 2013 & 2014. The actress has also appeared as Jean Ward in The Practice as well as Martha Bullock in Deadwood. Anna Gunn grew up in Sante Fe New Mexico and discovered her love for acting while attending the Preparatory School. At the end of the 1970s, the family moved to Ohio. Theatre studies were at Northwestern University. A semester was spent in the British American Drama Academy. Anna was working in the theatre in the Chicago region for a couple of years prior to trying her hand at TV as well as films. Anna got her big break in 1992 when she appeared as Arden for 29 episodes of Down the Shore. After appearing as a Guest on several TV shows and movies, including Seinfeld as well as NYPD Blue in the 1990's She was then cast as Jean Ward as part of The Practice. In 2000, she was placed in Deadwood in the role of Martha Bullock for two full seasons. Skyler is the character she played in her Breaking Bad role from 2008. She also starred in the Deadwood film and Sully. Gunn has also appeared on the stage in a David Schwimmer directed production Sex With Strangers. Gunn acted as Numbered Days, a four-part audio show that premiered set in 2022. The relationship that exists between Walter White and his wife Skyler is often the backbone of the narrative in Breaking Bad with the strained connection between them and eventually its demise similar to the arc that was Walter White's last years of his life.
